I formed Spectrum Financial Inc. for the express purpose of investing the money of family, friends, and clients the way I would invest my own. Spectrum provides portfolio management services to individuals, IRAs, corporate pensions, profit-sharing plans, 401Ks, charitable institutions, foundations, endowments, and trusts.
As the founder of Simply Distribute Charitable Foundation, my goal was to contribute to organizations promoting microfinance, supporting third world children hospitals, building orphanages and churches, and evangelism as the way to make positive changes in this world.
My specialties include: stewardship focus, portfolio manager, investment visionary, and technical analysis.
When I am not managing my client’s wealth, I can usually be found spending time with my children and my eight grandchildren. Also, I like to auto race, compose music and play the piano at my church worship team, and surf in Costa Rica. I founded Spectrum Financial in 1986 and serve as CEO. I also serve as a portfolio manager to Hundredfold Advisors LLC.
BS Business Administration, Corporate Finance
I like to give back to the community; I serve as the Chairman of Simply Distribute Foundation, a public charity, whose mandate is to distribute nearly all contributions annually. The charity has distributed to 8 named charities in excess of $6 million dollars in the areas of education, medical services, micro finance, and evangelism.
I began working with Spectrum in 1988 as a financial planner. Currently I develop and maintain corporate structure, efficient back office operations, and a comprehensive compliance program. Spectrum provides portfolio management services to individuals, IRAs, corporate pensions, profit-sharing plans, 401Ks, charitable institutions, foundations, endowments, and trusts.
Organizations I have spoken to include National Association of Active Investment Managers (NAAIM) Regionally Meetings, NAAIM Uncommon Knowledge Annual Meeting, the Old Dominion University Finance Club, and Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce.
My specialties include: organizational structure, business finance, company leadership, and stewardship visionary.
Outside the business world, I enjoy spending time with my husband and my 5 children and 4 grandchildren. I recently began competing in 5k-10k running events and completed my first Sprint Triathlon July 2015, and my first Half Marathon October 2016.

I review market data, trends, sentiment and perform ongoing analysis of existing investment strategies for effectiveness in meeting the goals of Spectrum’s investment philosophy. Spectrum provides portfolio management services to individuals, IRAs, corporate pensions, profit-sharing plans, 401Ks, charitable institutions, foundations, endowments, and trusts.
What drives me to wake up every morning and go to work? Proverbs 13:22 states, “A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children…” My desire is to help others achieve this goal of positively affecting their lives and their family tree.
Prior to joining Spectrum Financial in 2007, I was a securities advisor with a regional brokerage firm before shifting in 1993 to a large national brokerage firm. There, I became the Senior Technical Analyst of the technical analysis department. In 2005, I established my own firm that published daily market commentaries as well as being a regular contributor to a nationwide investment industry magazine. During this time, I worked with individuals and institutions, advising matters related to technical analysis trading methods. Over the years, I have developed numerous proprietary indicators and analysis techniques that attempt to enhance portfolio returns in various investments and market cycles.
My specialties include: strategist, portfolio manager, writer of market commentaries, and Chartered Market Technician.
When I am not researching for investment strategies, I can usually be found spending time with my wife, my four children and my dogs. Also I like to stay active in my church and local Virginia Beach community.
BSBA, Finance & Business Management
I graduated from the Strome College of Business at Old Dominion University with a degree in Finance and Business Management, and a focus on investment management and leadership. While at Old Dominion, I was part of an elite group of students that managed the school portfolio in excess of $100,000. While under our management the portfolio saw solid gains, and was able to beat the Standard & Poors 500 Index. Since graduation, I have written articles for the Motley Fool, served as a buy side analyst and associate portfolio manager, advised on Investment Committees for multiple small investment firms, and coordinated trading on a global level for one of the world’s largest investment management organizations.
What drives me to wake up every morning and go to work? Every day is a new day and you never know what it will bring. The financial markets never cease to surprise, so helping clients sleep better at night by managing their downside risk is what we are all about. As Thomas Edison once said, “If there’s a way to do it better… Find it.”
My specialties include: Multi-asset portfolio management, in-depth security research and analysis, portfolio construction and optimization, strategy development and implementation, manager selection and due diligence, and behavioral finance.
When I am not reading, researching, and strategizing, I am hopefully travelling to faraway lands and exploring different cultures. Time with my family grounds me and staying active keeps me young. When there is time to spare, I am likely designing furniture or making grand meals with friends. I maintain an active role in enhancing the local community and supporting the arts, and serve as a member of the Downtown Norfolk Council.
BS in Marine Biology

I love talking with clients.
I believe every conversation is a learning experience for all involved. At Spectrum, we know that every client is unique and has a different set of goals. I want to help clients in every way possible to attain those goals. The financial services world is a never-ending and ever-changing landscape and even with my many years of experience, I learn something new every day and that makes what I do fun and challenging at the same time. At Spectrum, we have feeling and intention that we can make a difference in the world…and we do just that!

These very same qualities I learned in life by helping at home, I have transferred over into every aspect of my life.
I am highly organized, self-motivated, and responsible. Some of my best characteristics are having initiative and time management skills. I learned very early through theatre what it means to be a team player. Also, playing sports growing up, more specifically, cheerleading and field hockey, really attributed to learning about reliability while contributing as a member of something bigger than just myself. I do my best work mid-day and enjoy theatre, acting, and attending conventions.
